Terms of use
Last updated: 17 August 2026
These terms govern the use of the My Chinese app and of this site.
Purpose and acceptance
My Chinese is an app for studying Chinese vocabulary, HSK levels 1 to 6. By using the app you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use it.
Conditions of access
Access to the app is free. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no advertising.
The app is offered for personal use. Reselling it, redistributing it, extracting its content in bulk or using it in a way that harms the service or other users is not permitted.
User account
The app can be used in full without an account. The account is optional and serves to sync progress across devices.
If you sign in, you are responsible for the use made of your Google account. Access to the account may be withdrawn if use in breach of these terms is detected.
Content and intellectual property
The My Chinese name, its logo, the design of the app and its code belong to My Chinese and may not be reproduced without authorisation.
The vocabulary comes from the public HSK level lists. The translations, the examples and the organisation of the catalogue are part of the app.
User-contributed images
While signed in you can choose an image for a word that does not have one yet. The images come from Unsplash and are shown with their author credit, under that platform’s terms.
By contributing an image you authorise its use within the app, non-exclusively and without payment. A contribution may be reviewed, replaced or withdrawn at any time, and will be withdrawn at the request of the affected party if it infringes third-party rights, by writing to contacto@mychinese.app.
Contributing images unrelated to the meaning of the word, or content that is offensive, unlawful, or that identifies people without their consent, is not permitted.
Service availability
The app is offered as is and as available. It is not guaranteed to work uninterrupted or free of errors, and its features may change or be withdrawn.
The vocabulary ships inside the app, so you can study offline. Syncing across devices does require a connection and a signed-in account.
Limitation of liability
My Chinese is a study tool. No learning outcome is guaranteed, nor is the content guaranteed to be fully accurate in every case.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, no liability is accepted for the loss of data stored only on the device, or for indirect damages arising from use of the app.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. The version in force is always the one published at this address, with its update date.
Contact
For anything related to these terms, to the app, or to the withdrawal of an image, write to contacto@mychinese.app.
